Rosie Pova's Writing Workshops/Writing Picture Books with Heart

Do you want to infuse your stories with heart?

How can you make your writing sweet and heartfelt, but avoid the saccharine zone? What makes a story heartfelt anyway?

This webinar will explore the elements that give stories that edge, and the power to tug at the reader's heartstrings, so that they stay with the reader long after they've closed the book.

The webinar will offer tips and practical advice on how to write stories with heart as we use mentor texts and pinpoint the right ingredients of a heartfelt story. A handout PDF is included, and it will provide a long list of titles to use as additional mentor texts.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING...

A Message From Rosie J. Pova

My road to being an award-winning published author wasn't easy.  As a young girl growing up in Bulgaria I developed a passion for writing and was fascinated with the power of words. Writing remained a hobby until 2004 when I revisited my love for writing and began penning children's stories. In the beginning, I was so confused and didn't know where to start. I relied on a community of fellow writers to learn and improve my craft daily. 17 years, 5 agents, and several traditionally published books later I'm here to guide you through the process so you don't make the same mistakes I did or spend years trying to figure things out.

Consider this...

How often do you think about the heart of your story as you write and revise? Is that something that you're intentional about or something you leave up to chance?

If it's the latter, you've been missing out on making your stories viable, irresistible, and marketable. Because no matter how great your idea is, or your premise, a story without a heart is pretty much doomed to arrive at a dead end.

So, finding the heart of your story is undoubtedly one of the most important milestones for a writer to reach with each manuscript. But the "heart" can be so elusive. How do you even know if it's there in the first place?

When you're too close to your work, it could be tricky to analyze it with objectivity. What specifically do you need to look for?

What if I told you that there are solid tools and techniques to help you make your story heartfelt, have strong emotional resonance, and be appealing to both readers and publishing professionals?

This is exactly what I teach in this workshop.  I take writers through the five elements I've identified that give your work the power to tug at the heartstrings, while I review examples from published books to specifically demonstrate each element. Once you know all that, you can successfully apply it to your own work--with each story you write or revise--and going forward, you'll be mindful of those five crucial elements.

In addition, I've included an extensive downloadable list of titles that you can use as mentor texts.

My own books have been called "heartfelt" and "sweet" over and over by both professional reviewers and readers, and I've been asked to teach on writing heartfelt stories. That's how this webinar came about, and I'm excited to share all of those tips and strategies with you!

Are you ready to take your stories to the next level?

Start implementing immediately when you register and watch the webinar.

Cheers to your writing success!
